TomTom GPS App Heads to iPhone

Your iPhone can now be turn to a GPS device.

iTunes store is now selling the new TomTom iPhone app for $99.99. The new application comes with features typically found in standard GPS units that includes voice directions and full maps of the U.S. and Canada. Maps for Europe, Australia, and New Zealand are available at varying prices.

The TomTom app uses new technology called IQ Routes that lets you reach their destinations quicker up to 35 percent of the time. In addition, the software can suggest alternative routes if a turn is missed or a road is blocked, the company said.



For travellers who drive along their car can also benefit this TomTom for iPhone. The company offers a car kit so that drivers can attache their iPhones to the front window or dash.

The new app runs on the iPhone 3G or 3GS and requires iPhone OS 3.0. Compatibility with the iPod Touch and older iPhone models should come soon, said TomTom.
